Crime Instructed to prosecute and defend a full range of Crown Court criminal matters across the
Midlands, including serious offences of violence and public disorder, all types of dishonesty,
drug offences and money laundering. Has also dealt with such cases at appellate level.
Has experience of prosecuting cases brought by the Department of Work and Pensions, and
by HM Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office.
Accustomed to dealing with clients who are vulnerable and /or difficult by reason of mental
illness or mental disability.
Recent and notable instructions have included : • prosecution of Proceeds of Crime applications with large volumes of financial records
requiring concise presentation to the Court within tight time constraints
• represented a defendant in a lengthy trial, charged with conspiracy to rob and
kidnapping, where various difficult issues of procedure and evidence arose
• prosecution of multi-defendant large scale violent disorder
• represented defendant in high value fraud case, involving complex documentary
evidence and substantial issues of bad character and hearsay evidence
Licensing Extensive experience in alcohol and entertainment licensing cases : has appeared for
national breweries, pub management companies, fast food chains, local authorities and
small traders across the country before local authority committees, Magistrates’ Courts
and the Crown Court. Costs Instructed to represent both claimants and defendants in costs litigation, on a nationwide
basis. Has particular expertise in detailed assessment hearings.
Continuing professional development
Through Warwick University, lectures to Health and Safety inspectors on matters of procedure
and evidence, which has involved dealing with experts in subjects as diverse as railway
engineering and psychology.
